This year, JARANA is proud to mark its one-year anniversary with two special events that showcase the exceptional talent of female chefs from our community and beyond. Chef Karla Hoyos from Tacotomia

To kick off the series, we are honored to welcome Chef Karla Hoyos from Tacotomia, a beloved taqueria known for its innovative take on Mexican street food. Chef Karla has made waves in the culinary world with her bold flavors and dedication to authenticity. In honor of International Women’s Day, Chef Karla will bring her culinary artistry to JARANA for an unforgettable evening where we’ll be mixing Peruvian and Mexican flavors in a unique fusion experience.

Chef Karla is known for her unique approach that blends traditional Mexican ingredients with contemporary techniques, and now she’ll team up with JARANA’s Executive Chef Martha Palacios, whose expertise in Peruvian cuisine will create an exciting cross-cultural collaboration. Together, they will craft a menu that honors the best of both culinary traditions, from the savory richness of Mexican tacos to the bold, vibrant spices of Peru.

Saturday, March 22 – Winner of ’24 James Beard Best Chef South

Next, we welcome Chef Valerie Chang of Maty’s, the winner of the 2024 James Beard Award for Best Chef South. Chef Valerie is a proud Peruvian chef from the city of Chiclayo, known for her expertise in traditional Peruvian flavors with a contemporary twist. For this special collaboration at JARANA, Chef Valeria will be working alongside our Executive Chef Martha Palacios to develop a unique Peruvian-inspired menu with a twist—combining the rich, authentic flavors of Peru with Martha’s unique take on the cuisine.

Chef Valerie’s recognition by the James Beard Foundation is a testament to her dedication, skill, and innovation in the kitchen. The collaboration with Chef Martha will result in an exciting, one-of-a-kind menu, offering a fresh take on Peruvian cuisine that will surprise and delight your palate.
